Old School
Walking on the beach in Daytona —
The beach ahead of us ……
Turning to look at the sea wall — I see this still on the wall….
This is just one of those reminders of the Old Daytona….
Elvis stayed here … at the Copacabana
The time of small family owned hotels, small groups of cabanas along the beach. People my age remember this Daytona – the old days when things on the beach were quieter – simpler – and lower. The days when a 6 story building was considered a high building.
The days when you loaded up the station wagon – while dad had one hand on the steering wheel and drank a beer in the front seat and you motored down the road going 75 MPH without a seat belt. You’d hear — simmer down back there or I’ll pull this car over —
Yes, those were the days !!!

Wow, great to see some reminders of the mom and pop Daytona! My grandparents place is one of the last standing mom and pop places. They’ve been running it since the early 60’s, just after Elvis time 🙂 We’ll do our best to keep it standing as long as possible!
